Komodo Dragon Report


I would like to introduce you to the fearsome komodo dragon. Read on and you will be fully informed about this exotic creature.

                                                                                        Appearance
The komodo dragon has rough, scaly skin, a long yellow forked tongue , it has extremely sharp teeth that are 1cm long, it weighs up to 70kg and can grow up to 3.15m (10feet), they are the largest lizard in the world. The young komodo dragons are usually the colour yellow or green or brown, and the adults are red or grey or black. Its tail is as long as its body. So now you have got a clear picture in your head of what they look like, read on to find out what else this creature can do.

                                                                                         Diet
The komodo dragon is a vicious carnivore, they eat some pretty disgusting food. One of the main foods komodo dragons eat is carrion. Carrion is the decaying flesh of an animal. They also eat fish, human meat (very rarely), other animals such as deer's, (pigs), and even sometimes there own young! Now you are starting to know what kind of animal this is, read on and you will find out even more!

                                                                                            Habitat
This exotic reptile lives in the hot climate's of the Indonesian islands and the rocky terrain of the Australian outback. These areas usually rocky, sandy and beach like areas. Komodo dragons are used to the hot climates, but they occasionally like the cold too. They also fight a lot read on and find out a lot more.

                                                                                             Enemies
Komodo dragons are surprisingly their own enemies! They fight each other over food or for territory. Once the winner has    defeated his opponent they will eat the loser. Komodo dragons also defend themselves from human hunters by attacking the underside of there throat, then they leave the hunter and wait for their flesh to turn into carrion.

Komodo dragons can do and have some pretty amazing things. Their mouth is deadlier than a cobras venom. They have sixty teeth and can run up to 15kph. There saliva has 50-80 different types of bacteria including one of the most deadliest in the world, called E coli! If a komodo dragon bites you will die of infection within 30-60 minutes.

Now you know everything I could possible tell you about the komodo dragon, watch out for them other wise you could be in grave danger…..
